Christmas Holidays present big opportunities for fraudsters

Things to watch out for over the xmas break so your finance team can have peace of mind

Tis the season to be jolly….. And so the saying goes.

Over the Christmas break staff still need to be paid and creditors still expect their invoices to be paid. It’s also rife with fraudsters (kinda like little elves) having a ‘jolly good go’ at your systems and processes. They know that over this holiday period, businesses are at their most vulnerable. So they try tricking you into making payments to another bank account or setting them up as a new creditor. Processes and controls for checking these requests quite often are rushed and not followed correctly.

So how do you deal with this time of year?
What training or refreshing of using systems do your staff receive before the xmas break?
What happens if your AP team needs to double-check a payment?

Segregation of duties is an important part of the approval process for finance teams but do you have alternate people that are competently trained up for these roles?

Our clients using VigilantPay love the fact that they can just login and set up additional staff to cover for this holiday period. And If you need extra support or training you can just book this in with our friendly and knowledgeable technical support team.
